Last winter saw a surge in sales of puffer coats, and we won’t be surprised if we see the same again this year. True, we’re not (currently) in any kind of lockdown, but British winters are pretty consistently cold. Not to mention that one of the biggest coat trends of autumn/winter 2021 is the puffer.
I have been on my own hunt to find the perfect puffer coat, and after hours of trawling, I settled on Arket’s maxi down coat, a style that comes with a history of being extra popular, even before the temperatures started to dip this October. Back in February 2020, the shopping search engine Lyst revealed that amongst the biggest-selling trophy pieces of the season (many of which were expensive and designer), Arket’s perfect puffer made it onto the top 10. With its simple cut, elegant and neutral colourways, handy hood, slits with popper fastenings on each side to adjust for more movement and roomy pockets, it ticked all of the boxes for what one needs from a practical coat—and at £225, the cost per wear over a series of cold winters speaks for itself. Since then, countless editors and influencers (and just about everyone on the streets of London) have managed to get their hands on the cosy style before it whizzes out of the (online) store yet again. What’s more, I’m so impressed to discover that this trending Arket puffer is made from sustainable materials. The coat is manufactured using recycled down and feathers, while the outside shell is made from matte recycled nylon and recycled-polyester yarn made from used plastic bottles. And did we mention it’s very warm? Keep scrolling to shop the popular puffer and more down coats from Arket.
